History of the NGC

Founded in 1968, the NGC is a specialty club which encourages and supports the breeding and exhibition of the Gloster Canary.
The first NGC show was held in the Boston, Massachusetts area in the Fall of 1969.

In 1970 most of the founding members were residents of Massachusetts, belonging to the Massachusetts Cage Bird Association, a few were from as far away as the New York, New Jersey area. Monthly meetings were held in or near Boston. Members met, planned for the fall show, shared experiences, and enjoyed a social gathering.

Formed as the “National” Gloster Club" with the passage of time membership expanded both in the United States and Canada. The character of the club also changed. Local monthly meetings were no longer practical and the NGC newsletter and the web became the vehicles for contact and the sharing of information among members
