The National Gloster Club was founded in 1970 by a group of Gloster Canary breeders who wished to form a specialty club which would support the breeding and exhibition of the Gloster Canary.

The Club - In 1970 most of the founding members were residents of Massachusetts, belonging to the Massachusetts Cage Bird Association, a few were from as far away as the New York, New Jersey area. Monthly meetings were held in or near Boston. Members met, planned for the fall show, shared experiences, and enjoyed a social gathering.

The club had been formed as the "National" Gloster Club and with the passage of time membership expanded both in the United States and Canada. The character of the club also changed. Local monthly meetings were no longer practical and the NGC Bulletin became the vehicle for contact and the sharing of ideas among members. As membership increased the NGC moved the show location first from Massachusetts to Connecticut and since 2005 to New Jersey. The present location offers a site central to most members on the east coast.

The club now holds  membership meetings at both NGC Show, and  at the National Cage Bird Show.

The Executive Board of the National Gloster Club is comprised of the President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and three Trustees.

NGC News - The NGC exists to encourage and support the breeding of the Gloster Canary. Communication among members is essential. The NGC Bulletin,  published by the NGC Secretary, allows the Club and members to share knowledge and experience. The Bulletin also carries a breeder's listing and conveys news of upcoming shows  and events. In addition to the Bulletin all members receive the annual Show Catalog.

Registered NGC Bands - are available to NGC members. 2008 bands cost $8.00 for a string of twenty five.

Membership - Annual Dues - Single Member - $20.00, Family - $25.00,
