Show Cage Guidelines

In an attempt to have a uniform and fair presentation of Gloster Canaries being exhibited at National and local shows, representative of the three Gloster Specialty Clubs in the USA, the United Gloster Breeders, the US Chapter of the International Gloster Breeders Association, and the National Gloster Club developed exhibition guidelines. Local Clubs are encouraged to use the guidelines in Gloster divisions or sections.

GUIDELINES FOR EXHIBITING GLOSTERS AT THE NGC and at the NCBS

CAGE - Clean Standard Gloster show cage

CAGE FLOOR - covered with mixture of three parts of Canary Seed and one part of Rape Seed (approximately, but no more than 8 oz.)

PERCHES - must be level - not inclined up or down.

DRINKER - “D” cup or Mini-Drinker. The Mini-Drinker must be placed on the left, as one faces the cage, three spaces to the left of the perch.

Exhibitor must select which drinker to use. Only one drinker will be allowed on the cage. All drinkers must have water.

SHOW TAG - must be attached at the left side of the show cage on the second wire counting from the wall of the cage.

Tag must drop loose after being tied on the cage, so that the judge can write on the back of the tag if he or she desires.
